Project Tango Demoed by Mantis Vision; Tablet unveiled by Google & would cost you $1024

What exactly is Project Tango?
This project is meant to bring smartphones the ability to map their surroundings in 3D. Google plans to bring two devices of this kind to the market – a phone and a tablet.

Mantis Vision has just announced their partnership with Google, with whom they have teamed up to work on Project Tango. Mantis Vision will be providing Google with MV4D, the core platform behind the 3D mapping technology.



Heres a cool demo of how the tango devices can be used for. With the help of such 3 devices, you could combine feeds and make a 360° 3D image or a video!

Also, Google today announced the Project Tango development kit, an Android tablet with some unique sensors and features for a whopping $1024. The tablet is out and out made for developers.

The device is loaded with many sensors, including motion-tracking cameras, depth sensors, a 120-degree wide-angle front-facing camera and more.

This $1024 tablet is a power-packed device, it has :
a quad-core Nvidia Tegra K1 chip,
4GB of RAM,
128GB of storage space,
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE,
a 7-inch display
and a 2um 4MP camera on the rear.

This tablet is surely made for some real crazy development purposes and also the price seems worth. With the Project Tango development kit, Google is looking for potential developers who would be interested in exploring the future of 3D sensing.
