Humanoid robot learning to control a real Flight Simulator

You might have seen robots of various types doing various tasks but this one is outstanding! This robot can fly a plane designed for humans!

No doubt it would be simpler to build a robotic control system into a plane rather than have a humanoid robot. But this is just an example to show how precisely this robot can perform tasks.

The robot called PIBOT gets telemetry data from the simulated aircraft’s sensors so it always knows the roll, pitch, yaw, airspeed, altitude, and GPS location of the plane. It also uses some computer vision algorithms to line up with the runway using edge detection.


As seen in the video, the robot seems to fly the plane without any issue. They plan to do this test again on a real plane soon. If this technology improves with time then don't get shocked if you meet a robot in the plane they next time you fly with your grandchildren! LoL
