The Blue Ticks : Whatsapp quietly rolled out the 'Read Receipt' feature

WhatsApp has introduced a small but significant to their Android and iOS versions of its app.

Normally a  user was notified if a sent message was delivered by indication of two tick marks next to the message; But now WhatsApp users can now know if this sent message has been read!

Now when the recipient opens up the chat screen, the two ticks next the message turn blue. In case of a group chat, the two ticks turn blue when all the participants have read a message.

This feature was in tests since last month or so, users simply got 'mysterious blue ticks' all of a sudden and users were freaking out, wondering why they got those ticks. Such blue ticks were rare. And also after this official rollout of this feature, not everyone is experiencing this update; some people report that they don't get such ticks completely/on specific chats.

Well, this new WhatsApp feature won't helpful to the majority of the users over the globe, it'll be like a headache; the user would be compelled to reply, and it he doesn't, the blue ticks would create anger into the sender's mind!
Seems there's no point of turning off "last seen" now.

Let's hope that WhatsApp will soon roll in an option that allows the user to switch off this new feature, being a Whatsapp user myself, I personally think there was no need for this upgrade.

Update :
Long Press a sent message and you'll notice a new 'info button' on the top, clicking it gives you more info about the time the message was sent, and when it was read.
